What's Appropriate and What's Not in Interviews

So for most of you following my blog you know that I just moved to Jacksonville, FL in search of a permanent job! I have been on several interviews lately, and felt compelled to write a blog about what TO wear in an interview and what NOT to wear. Obviously, we are in a recession, so I see myself against tons of other candidates during my job interviews. While in the waiting room or during a group interview, I can't help my fashionista side and scope out my competition's outfits. I have seen some head-turners, good and bad. So I've come up with a list of do's and along with some don'ts for your average "classy" interview.

DO:
(for women)
1. Wear a solid black, grey, or blue dress pant (with a white shirt) or dress (make sure it's only 2 inches above the knee).
2. WEAR HEELS- interviews are usually less then an hour, so deal with the pain and look like a lady.
3. Do your hair (spend at least 15 minutes trying to do it, and put a smoother in it)
4. Do your makeup (at MINIMUM wear foundation, blush, lipstick/gloss, and mascara). Do not look like you're about to go to the club though, think makeup you'd wear to church.
5. If wearing pants, wear one's that are your size, not too small or tight. No large pockets, no details, and of a professional fabric. You can find affordable pants at Kohl's, Belk, Macy's, JCPenny's etc. Just ask an employee there.
6. Nude Bra. I can not tell you how many strange colored bras I have seen under women's outfits. If you're wearing a very thick fabric dress, and your straps don't show, then wear what you want. But, if your straps have ANY chance of showing, then wear a nude bra, especially if wearing a white shirt.
7. Bring a solid, nice looking, black or white bag. You can find a cheap, but nice one at TJMaxx, Ross, or Marshall's.

DO's: Men:
1. Pick 1 solid color and stick with it. Wear black or blue pants with a solid color (I suggest white) collared shirt. Make sure you iron your pants, they are not too baggy, are of professional material, and wear a belt.
2.Get a haircut.
3. Wear dress hoes- Black is your only option.
4. Tuck in your shirt. This is not a football game, tuck in your shirt and look like you want the job.
5. No polo, no khaki's, no sunglasses, etc. This is not the beach. If the company  dress code is casual then wear casual when you land the job.
6. If you must have facial hair, then whip out those trimmers and spend at least 15 minutes making it look good. Pretend you are going out with the hottest girl in your life... look that good. If you can, just shave it off. Women like it better, and you look better.
7. Bring a briefcase to hold your extra resumes or things you need. If you don't feel comfortable with that, then try to bring a minimum amount of things, and lower the weight of your wallet. Bring a folder for your resumes, 1 pen, etc.
 8. If you look in the mirror before you leave and your outfit is ok to go do yard work, go to a football game, or for a grill out... go change.

Well, hopefully these tips from my experiences will help others to look and feel their best. We are in recession people, so being on top of your game is the only way to stand out from the crowd! If you have the talent, match it with your appearance and the job will be yours!

Pininterst- The Best New Website!

So I found a new website that I absolutely loveee! I thought I would never find anything better then stumbleupon.com, and whhhala! they did it again! Pininterst is so cool! Who knew there were so many creative, cool, and awesome things out there!

The site is so simple to use. You don't need a username to look around which is really nice. But, if you want to create your own pin boards or "like" something, then you need an account. You can use your Facebook or any email. It has you "request" to be a member, this is just a quick way of sending you a confirmation code and validating your email address. Once you have confirmed, you can start pinning! If you find things you like on the website you can 'repin' them to your own board for people to see, or you can pin new things you find online.

Look at a few cute hair styles I found on there...

This is also a great way to find new blogs! I found so many cool girls that I lovey to follow and see what they are doing next!

Try it out... Pininterest

Thanks for stopping by!

Gretchen Christine Rossi

So as probably everyone knows, or should know, I am OBSESSED with Real Housewives series on Bravo! TV. I can't get enough. It's classy, it's trashy, it's everything but the kitchen sink! My favorite housewife of all time is Gretchen Rossi. I think that she is as real as it gets. Yes, she's had her bad publicity and name calling, but she always comes out of it with a smile and admitting the truth. She seems to always be the most level headed housewife, putting other ladies in place when need be. She's a girl after my own heart! What I love about her most though is that her style is the perfect combination between Playboy Bunnies Kendra and Bridgette. She has that sporty, athletic look, but pairs it perfectly with a beautiful set of pearls, diamonds and curled hair. Don't get me confused though, she has her own look as well, it was just the closest comparison I could think of.

I really want to start using her as inspiration more because I feel that she is so well put together and deserves to be acknowledged. I would kill to get a hold of a sample of hers and be able to do a tutorial about it. When her and Slate were on the Live! show with Andy Cohen, was her eye makeup not to die for?! I'm going to Google image search a couple classic looks and get together with Alyssa to do a total Gretchen Rossi tutorial look. I'm really excited about this and think that you ladies will be able to easily get it down.

Does anyone else have idols or inspirations that they would like to share? I'd love to come up with a tutorial about how to get that look! Just comment on here or send me an email. Some other inspirations that come to mind quickly are Audrey Hepburn (of course), Kyle from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kate Hudson (oh I'm doing a tutorial on her soon!) and a couple others. Give me your opinion, I'd love to hear it!! Thanks for reading! :)

How to Keep Looking Cheerful During These Rainy Days!

Hey! So right now it's crazy storming... again. It's only not rained 49 days SINCE JANUARY 1!! Gross.
So I wanted to blog about some ways to keep looking cheerful during these days.
First, with your make-up, really play up those eyes! Use bright (not gaudy) colors together that create that pretty pop of color! Color combos like yellow and purple, light blues, pinks, bright blues, etc. If you don't want to use colors, try using some different colored eyeliners like blues, purples, or greens. You can also try wearing a nude eye, or a basic liner with a beautiful red or pink lip. I've been rocking the pink lately! :)

Now with the outfit! Try wearing a cute pop of color in your accessories- like some pink heels, purple jewelry, blue earrings, and such! Don't be afraid to combo bright tops with bright jewelry! It's spring time after all!

Just remember that it's NOT WINTER! So keep wearing pops of color and showing this horrible weather who's boss! Just don't over do it... we are not in the 80s! But keep it fresh and maintained and you'll be the cutest thing!! :)

I posted some new videos check them out!

Barbie Make Up

So when I first saw this, I was thinking "I don't know about this." But the more I look at it the more I like it. Let me know your thoughts... I'll be coming up with a youtube video tutorial inspired by it!

Braided Headbands... So cute!

So Mariah posted this on my facebook wall and I wanted to share it with you all...

HOW CUTE ARE THESE!!!!

Ahh it's finally here!

Hey Everyone!
So my little saying, "Always Classy! Never Trashy!" has finally become something! I started a Youtube page (www.youtube.com/user/alwaysclassy513) and can't wait to get started on that.
So why did I start this you ask? Well, this year has been one of the greatest yet trying years I have ever had. I have learned and lost so much over the past 9 months, and decided that it was time I open up a conversation about the things that are happening in my life. If it wasn't for other girls being like, "ya that's happening to me too" then I don't know if I would be where I am today. I believe that we have power in communities and that God intended for us to come together with our joys, sorrows, pain and laughter. So on here I will be discussing different things I've learned, aka- the smoky eye, hair tutorials, nail designs, reviews, etc! I also want to start a discussion about things going on in my life. I've been stabbed in the back by a lot of people lately resulting in some 'not-so-classy-moments' of despair, but I have also been given the best friends to help me through this and bring me back to the lady I am. I'm not perfect, and sadly not classy 100% of the time, but I want others to know that it's not just happening to them, and let's talk about how we handled the situation, how we can keep it classy, and what lessons God is teaching us along the way. I feel that I am pretty good at reinvention, so I want to share my tips and tricks on how to look better, different, or to just feel prettier (like when I self-tan and am not a snowflake anymore!) so others can try it out too and let me know how it affected your self confidence. I also LOVE quotes. So I'm going to add one that I feel is inspiring to the bottom of every blog and please respond and let me know how it applies to you or what you think. Again, this isn't intended for me to just get on and talk about myself and yatta yatta yatta. I want it to be a conversation between all of us inspiring, beautiful and powerful women :) I need some ideas to start out with so if you have any questions, requests or interests please leave them in the comment section or email me at- AlwaysClassy513@gmail.com.
I hope this blog helps you to change your confidence, self-esteem, hope, and life in small or big ways. :) ttyl xoxo

Quote of the Blog (aka- QOTB! haha)
It takes more courage to reveal insecurities than to hide them, more strength to relate to people than to dominate them, more 'manhood' to abide by thought-out principles rather than blind reflex. Toughness is in the soul and spirit, not in muscles and an immature mind.
